FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynne Lindsey and all news should be directed to her at lynnehlindsay@outlook.com

President's Message
A Heart Full of Hope

The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.

Many of you have been involved with the construction, painting, and delivery of our picnic table project.

Last week Past President Harvey and I delivered our table to Jacob’s Ladder. It now sits proudly on a hill surrounded by trees and bird feeders, overlooking an organic farm.

The students promise to enjoy this hope, truth, love, and joy filled table for years.

This Week's Speaker
Award Winning Master Chef

Jasmine Stewart is the winner of MasterChef Junior, Season 5. When she took home the title at age 12, she became the first African American winner of MasterChef Junior and the only contestant in the show’s history to win the show after having been eliminated. Jasmine was honored to work with both Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi, the judges of this FOX television show, as well as with Martha Stewart, Wolfgang Puck, and many others.

Since the show, Jasmine has stayed busy with speaking engagements across the country, Camp MasterChef, an online cooking class called “Jasmine’s Delightful Desserts”, the Junior Chef Council for Great Wolf’s Lodge, and most recently was a part of the MasterChef Junior Live Tour. She has graced the pages of Black Enterprise, Essence, and Atlanta Magazine, and was featured in the Refresh Your Voice campaign for Coca-Cola, in partnership with Blavity. Now 16, Jasmine is an 11th grader who lives in Milton, GA with her parents and older brother, Justin.

Jasmine started her own company, JustJas, LLC, which focuses on girl empowerment and motivational speaking. As a part of that effort, she has created the hashtag, theme, and slogan of “Let Your Inner Girl Slay” which is designed to encourage young girls to be confident and not fear pursuing their inner dreams and hopes. Continuing that theme, Jasmine recently launched her own line of bags called GirlBags, which encourage young girls and women to “Dream” and to “Act” to create the best life possible. Jasmine donates proceeds from bag sales to various local charities which allows her to continue to make a direct impact on her community. She plans to launch her own YouTube program soon.

At school, Jasmine cheers, is an active member of the student council, mock trial team and the Beta Club. She is also a two-letter sportsman. In her spare time, Jasmine enjoys cooking, shopping, sports, and hanging with her friends.
