FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynne Lindsey and all news should be directed to her at lynnehlindsay@outlook.com

President John's Message

Lot’s happening at Rotary this month.  This week we highlight our upcoming Golf and Tennis Tournaments with fun and games.  We will hear from Frank Brown, one of the founders of our golf tournament 44 years ago.

Last week Rennie Curran helped us all understand what Service Above Self means in our lives.  His powerful message resonated with all in the house including football players from Roswell High and Fellowship Christian.

Chris Brand, from Tucker Rotary, updated us on 6 months of direct relief for Ukrainians that has been sent from our District 6900.  Here is a link, if you would like to contribute to the District’s relief efforts: https://rotary6900.org/contribution/contribute?project=3936

Chris also told us about an event on August 23 and 24. Rotary International is hosting an International Forum for Supporters of Ukraine.  Here is the video link about this event:   https://fb.watch/eYQ7fKLwqS/ .

Golf & Tennis Extravaganza Meeting
August 25 Program: Putting, Parrots, Pickleball , and Bob Oh My!

What do putting, parrots, pickleball and Bob Hagan have in common? Buckle your seat belt because they will all be featured in our August 25th program! Think you can putt? Then put your skills to the test during the putting contest at our lunch program on 8/25. How are your tail pinning skills?  Participate in our "Pin the Tail on the Parrot" activity. And think you can get the ball in Bob Hagan's mouth? Go for it on Thursday 8/25. Get on out of your seat at lunch and do what Roswell Rotary does best-support our community and have fun!

Awards for 2021-2022 Club Year
Roswell Rotary Earns Three Awards at 2021-2022 Final Lap Event

Roswell Rotary came away numerous awards including the membership and Governors award.   And although there was not a "Club of the Year" award  category this year, RR rocked the end of year celebration!   This was icing on the cake after previously winning the Sheffield award at district.

Past President Moment - Frank Brown - 1980-81

The 44th Annual Aubrey Greenway Golf Tournament tees off in September.   In 1980, the Roswell Rotary Club was about to host its 3rd Annual Golf Tournament.  The tournament was started in 1978 by Frank Brown, Judge Maurice Hillard, and former Roswell Mayor Aubrey Greenway.  Our club had 80 members and met in the Community Activity Building in the room where we now serve our plates.  Frank actually served almost two terms when President Charles Harmon had to move during his tenure.  Come hear more about what was happening at Rotary at the start of the 80’s.

After Hours Hosts Thirsty Thursday at Fetch Dog Park

Thursdays can be ruff. That's why you're invited to After Hours' Thirsty Thursday event! Join us this Thursday the 25th at 6:30 at Fetch Park Alpharetta for a fetching evening! Fetch Park is a dog park and bar combined. What more could you ask for?! Humans are free and pooches are $10. Details on the park can be found here: https://fetchpark.com/

After Hours Receives Financial Tips

Roswell Rotary's own Mike Agurkis was gracious enough to be the guest speaker at After Hours' Tuesday meeting. He provided tips on how and why to save, discussed different 401k options, and answered a TON of questions. It was definitely one of the most insightful and helpful meetings to date!

The next After Hours meeting is Tuesday, September 6 at 6:30 at The Artillery Room @ Gate City.
