The Rotary Club of Peachtree City began the new Rotary year with a strong commitment to serving our community. In July, our club provided Community Grant support to 14 nonprofit organizations, celebrated the completion of two meaningful projects at Camp Southern Ground, and joined members of Rotaract in service to veterans, families, and the wider community.

More than 50 nonprofit organizations applied for funding through our 2026 Community Grants program. Following a thoughtful review of each application, 14 organizations were selected based on the important needs they address and the lasting community impact they are working to create.

The grant recipients were Bloom Our Youth, Flint River Council Scouting, Georgia Exploreum, Real Life Center, Southern Conservation Trust, Southside Support, Wellspring Living, Camp Southern Ground, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office C.H.A.M.P.S. Program, Fayette Humane Society, Harts of Teal, Midwest Food Bank Georgia Division, Christian City, and The I 58 Mission.

Each organization serves a different need, but together their work reaches people throughout every stage of life. These organizations support children and families affected by foster care, develop leadership and character in young people, expand access to education, provide food and financial assistance, preserve natural spaces, support individuals with special needs and their caregivers, promote workforce development, increase ovarian cancer awareness, improve access to pet care, and help survivors of human trafficking rebuild their lives.

The grants were directed toward specific needs that will make a meaningful difference. Funding will help provide nutritious food to families during the summer months, improve warehouse efficiency and food distribution, purchase equipment for workforce training, expand affordable pet care, strengthen youth leadership and personal safety programs, and create welcoming spaces where children, veterans, and families can heal, learn, grow, and connect.

Our Community Grants program is about more than providing financial support. It is about listening to the needs of our community, building relationships with trusted nonprofit partners, and helping those organizations expand the important work they are already doing. By supporting these missions, our club is helping strengthen families, create new opportunities, and improve the quality of life throughout our community.

Camp Southern Ground

Our partnership with Camp Southern Ground is one example of how Rotary combines grant support with hands on service.

On July 10, club members joined Camp Southern Ground to celebrate the opening of its new Archery Pavilion and Music Meadow. The Rotary Club of Peachtree City helped make these spaces possible through our Community Grants program, along with support from a Rotary District Grant.

The Archery Pavilion will give participants opportunities to build confidence, concentration, and a sense of accomplishment. The Music Meadow will provide an outdoor space where campers can explore creativity, form meaningful connections, and experience the healing power of music. Both spaces will serve children, veterans, and families for years to come.

The following morning, members of the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Peachtree City returned to Camp Southern Ground to volunteer at the fourth annual Ruck and BBQ Bash.

Our members welcomed participants at registration, served as course marshals, assisted in the vendor and culinary areas, and encouraged participants throughout the event. The day included a 5K ruck, live music, barbecue, family activities, and a strong sense of friendship and community.

The event brought veterans, families, volunteers, and community supporters together in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary. Proceeds from the Ruck and BBQ Bash support Camp Southern Ground’s Warrior Programs, which help veterans and their families strengthen relationships, build community, and thrive after military service.

Our work throughout July was about more than presenting grants, attending a ribbon cutting, or volunteering at an event. It was about showing up, building lasting partnerships, and taking responsibility for the well-being of our community.

Through Community Grants, volunteer service, and strong nonprofit partnerships, the Rotary Club of Peachtree City is helping turn community needs into meaningful action. This is what it means to be People of Action, and this is how Rotary creates lasting impact.
