What You Missed Last Week!

What a way to finish a great Rotary year. The Rotary year for 2020-2021 began in the middle of the Covid Pandemic. But Covid was no match for the Rotary Club of Thomasville. Yes, there was challenging and difficult times, but we overcame them all. Our celebration began last week and was still in session at final meeting of the year. Let us use this momentum to grow our club into all we know it can be.

Our last meeting of the year ended with President John Brown’s Swan Song. Not to be overlooked was the installation of our new club president Wayne Newsome, along with his board members. The meeting also included award recognitions for several Rotarians. Receiving recognition was:

  • Andre’ Marria-Avenues Of Service Award
  • Jeff Zoller-Four Way Test Award
  • Mike Bixler-Charles H Watt MD Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Brett Jenkins- Rookie Of The Year Award

With a great year behind us, we look forward to great things in the coming year. Rotary opened many opportunities to us this past year, and we took full advantage of them. Now it is time for to combine last year’s theme with next year’s theme and accomplish more great things. Rotary’s new theme is “Serve To Change Lives.” The call to action from incoming International President Shekhar Mehta is “Each On Bring One.” This, we can do. If we grow our club, we will grow Rotary International. As coach Phil Jackson said “The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” Let’s choose to make this year our best year ever. Let’s choose to serve, to change lives.
